Judgment on Moab

This is what the Lord says:

“For three offenses of (A)Moab, and for four,
I will not [a]revoke its punishment,
Because he (B)burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.
So I will send fire upon Moab
And it will consume the citadels of (C)Kerioth;
And Moab will die amid the (D)panic of battle,
Amid war cries and the sound of a trumpet.
I will also eliminate the [b](E)judge from her midst
And slay all her (F)leaders with him,” says the Lord.

Judgment on Judah

This is what the Lord says:
“For three offenses of (G)Judah, and for four,
I will not revoke its punishment,
Because they (H)rejected the Law of the Lord
And have not kept His statutes;
Their [c](I)lies also have led them astray,
Those which their (J)fathers followed.
So I will (K)send fire upon Judah,
And it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem.”

Judgment on Israel

This is what the Lord says:
“For three offenses of (L)Israel, and for four,
I will not revoke its punishment,
Because they (M)sell the righteous for [d]money,
And the needy for a pair of sandals.
These who [e]trample the head of the (N)helpless to the dust of the earth
Also (O)divert the way of the humble;
And a (P)man and his father [f]resort to the same [g]girl
So as to profane My holy name.
And on garments (Q)seized as pledges they stretch out beside (R)every altar,
And in the house of their God they (S)drink the wine of those who have been fined.

“Yet it was I who destroyed the (T)Amorite before them,
[h]Though his (U)height was like the height of cedars
And he was as strong as the oaks;
I also destroyed his (V)fruit above and his roots below.
10 And it was I who (W)brought you up from the land of Egypt,
And led you in the wilderness for (X)forty years
So that you might take possession of the land of the (Y)Amorite.
11 Then I (Z)raised up some of your sons to be prophets,
And some of your young men to be (AA)Nazirites.
Is this not so, you sons of Israel?” declares the Lord.
12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine,
And you commanded the prophets, saying, ‘You (AB)shall not prophesy!’
13 Behold, I am (AC)making a rut in the ground beneath you,
Just as a wagon makes a rut when filled with sheaves.
14 (AD)Refuge will be lost from the swift,
And the strong will not strengthen his power,
Nor the (AE)warrior save his [i]life.
15 The one who (AF)grasps the bow will not stand his ground,
The swift of foot will not escape,
Nor will the one who rides the (AG)horse save his [j]life.
16 Even the [k]bravest among the warriors will (AH)flee naked on that day,” declares the Lord.

The Lord, a Provider and the One Who Rescues Me.

A Psalm of David, when he pretended to be insane before [a]Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.

34 I will (A)bless the Lord at all times;
His (B)praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul will (C)make its boast in the Lord;
The (D)humble will hear it and rejoice.
(E)Exalt the Lord with me,
And let’s (F)exalt His name together.

I (G)sought the Lord and He answered me,
And (H)rescued me from all my fears.
They (I)looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will (J)never be ashamed.
This wretched man cried out, and (K)the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The (L)angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

(M)Taste and see that the Lord is good;
How (N)blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
Fear the Lord, you (O)His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is (P)no lack of anything.
10 The young lions do without and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the Lord will (Q)not lack any good thing.

  1. Psalm 34 Title Possibly a title of King Achish of Gath, see 1 Sam 21:10-15

22 And they *came to (A)Bethsaida. And some people *brought a man who was blind to [a]Jesus and *begged Him to (B)touch him. 23 Taking the man who was blind by the hand, He (C)brought him out of the village; and after (D)spitting in his eyes and (E)laying His hands on him, He asked him, “Do you see anything?” 24 And he [b]looked up and said, “I see people, for I see them like trees, walking around.” 25 Then again He laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and began to see everything clearly. 26 And He sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter (F)the village.”

Peter’s Confession of Christ

27 (G)Jesus went out, along with His disciples, to the villages of (H)Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, “Who do people say that I am?” 28 (I)They told Him, saying, “John the Baptist; and others say Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” 29 And He continued questioning them: “But who do you say that I am?” (J)Peter answered and *said to Him, “You are the [c]Christ.” 30 And (K)He [d]warned them to tell no one about Him.

31 (L)And He began to teach them that (M)the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise from the dead. 32 And He was stating the matter (N)plainly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. 33 But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, (O)Satan; for you are not setting your mind on [e]God’s purposes, but on man’s.”

34 And He summoned the crowd together with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, (P)take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For (Q)whoever wants to save his [f]life will lose it, but whoever loses his [g]life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? 37 For what could a person give in exchange for his soul? 38 For (R)whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, (S)the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He (T)comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
